Happy NARCM!! <3
March is Red Cross Month, a time to remind everyone of the work of the American Red Cross in communities across the country and around the globe – and how we depend on public support to help people in need.
In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed the first Red Cross Month in support of Red Cross fundraising efforts to respond to needs brought on by World War II. Since that time, every president, including President Obama, has designated March as Red Cross Month.
Attached are two links to President Obama, like all previous Presidents, proclaiming March 2013 as American Red Cross Month.
Throughout the month of NARCM, you will be able to find interesting information and quotes related to a month completely dedicated to our awesome organization! :)

Children Safety Festival <3
For the past month or so, we took a day from each of our busy weeks to prepare for this event. It doesn’t seem like much, making posters or organizing toys into categories of age/gender. But when you put it all together, with all the different booths, decorations, and entertainment, it’s pretty amazing. All the hard work definitely paid off, seeing a smile put on these families’ faces.
It was pretty awesome hanging out with everyone every at CSF. It was also Nancy’s birthday, so I’m happy that I could hang out with her. I learned that donuts & lemon hot cheetos equals foodgasm. HAHA. I got a heart and rainbow painted on my face at Marina’s booth. :) It was fun watching everyone perform the dances… like 4 times. LOL. Sean kept trying to make me take a picture with him but he tried to overthrow me, so I wouldn’t let him until the very end XD oh and I got to see Kimmy, again! 6 hours, definitely worth every minute.
I honestly don’t know what I would do without them. They’re like a family to me. They always make events so much fun. With junior year being so stressful, they give me something to look forward to. I am so thankful to have all of them. (:

- GIFT Meeting & World AIDS Day/Candlelight Vigil
When: December 7th from 6 to 7:30
What: In lieu of GIFT meeting. YLC plans it every year where all GIFT attendees stand outside and hold candles. During this time, Leadership members recite facts about AIDS/HIV. A great way to become informed about AIDS/HIV while supporting a great cause
When: December 5th, 6th, 8th from 4:30 to 6:30
What: A day where volunteers get the toys that were dropped off by schools that had a toy drive and organize them by age and gender. A HUGE help for the day of the event when we have to pass them out to children.
- Children’s Safety Festival
When: December 10th Two shifts (you can only attend one shift unless you are Bryan Solis) 8-12 and 12-4
What: A festival where underprivileged children from around Orange County are chosen by their schools because this is pretty much their only Christmas present of the year. They get a toy and get to go around to all of the booths that are hosted by Red Cross clubs. Segerstrom always signs up as individual volunteers, so we help with passing out toys, setting up, watching the parking so it doesn’t overflow, and many other important tasks that help the festival run much more efficiently.
When: December 14th from 4:30 to 7:30
What: Basically, a big social for the entire Chapter. We play games, eat snacks, and (like all Red Cross events) meet loads of new people/bond with old friends
When: December 15th from 3 to 5
Where: The Room with a View
What: An interclub event where all of the clubs on Segerstrom campus are invited to make cards and bond with one another. We’ll also have games, music, snacks, and icebreakers. A great way to meet people from other clubs!
- Holiday with the Critters
When: December 18th from 5-9
Where: Santa Ana Zoo
What: A holiday event where we help at different booths like storytelling, coloring station, animal showings, maze, etc.
Need: Volunteer Application for the Santa Ana Zoo turned into Bryan Solis by December 15th
